> Key: HDFS-4493
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-4493
> Project: Hadoop HDFS
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: webhdfs
> Affects Versions: 0.23.0, 2.0.0-alpha, 3.0.0-alpha1
> Reporter: Daryn Sharp

> Webhdfs assumes that SPNEGO's {{AuthenticationException}} is always fatal. The exception is thrown if authentication truly fails due to bad credentials, _but_ it's also thrown when the auth token expires after 10h. The retry policies are short-circuited and the fs becomes unusable which is unsuitable for long running processes/daemons.
