[jira] Created: (GERONIMO-1285) Deployer does not list all modules that have been stopped

Deployer does not list all modules that have been stopped
---------------------------------------------------------

         Key: GERONIMO-1285
         URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GERONIMO-1285
     Project: Geronimo
        Type: Bug
  Components: deployment
    Versions: 1.0-M5
    Reporter: Aaron Mulder
     Fix For: 1.0

When you, for example, stop the "tomcat" configuration, all the web apps deployed to Tomcat are stopped too. However, the deployer does not let you know this. It should list all modules that were stopped, just like it does when starting.

[jira] Resolved: (GERONIMO-1285) Deployer does not list all modules that have been stopped

Posted by "Donald Woods (JIRA)" <ji...@apache.org>.

Donald Woods resolved GERONIMO-1285.
------------------------------------

    Resolution: Fixed

Slight rework, to remove the extraneous updateStatus() calls when processing the childs.
Also updated StopCommand to display "Module <id> is already stopped" instead of treating it as a failure.
Rakesh, thanks for the patches.

Rakesh Midha commented on GERONIMO-1285:
----------------------------------------

The admin console uses Dependency Manager to get the child components, which is not available in remote connection while using deploy tool. Only thing available is DeploymentManager.

Good news is on server side ConfigurationManager is used to start/stop components, and these services returns LifecycleResults which are never used. In the patch, made the changes to Start/Stop command and CommandStart to use the LifeCycleResults.

Attached patch provide the following functionalities :
Stop module with childs will print:
C:\geronimo\buildtrunk\geronimo-tomcat-j2ee-1.2-SNAPSHOT\bin>deploy.bat --user s
ystem --password manager stop org.apache.geronimo.configs/dojo-tomcat/1.2-SNAPSH

Using JRE_HOME: c:\Progra~1\sun\j2se1.4.2\jre

    Stopped org.apache.geronimo.configs/dojo-tomcat/1.2-SNAPSHOT/car

    Stopped
    org.apache.geronimo.configs/webconsole-tomcat/1.2-SNAPSHOT/car
      `-> framework.war
      `-> standard.war

Start module with parents will print:
C:\geronimo\buildtrunk\geronimo-tomcat-j2ee-1.2-SNAPSHOT\bin>deploy.bat --user s
ystem --password manager start org.apache.geronimo.configs/webconsole-tomcat/1.2

Patch consoleprint1285.patch prints the same for console. It prints started, stopped, uninstalled and installed module names in console.

> When you, for example, stop the "tomcat" configuration, all the web apps deployed to Tomcat are stopped too. However, the deployer does not let you know this. It should list all modules that were stopped, just like it does when starting.

[jira] Updated: (GERONIMO-1285) Deployer does not list all modules that have been stopped

Posted by "Aaron Mulder (JIRA)" <de...@geronimo.apache.org>.

Aaron Mulder updated GERONIMO-1285:
-----------------------------------

    Fix Version: 1.1
                     (was: 1.0)

Seems like it would need a fairly extensive change for Configuration or Kernel calls to return a list of GBeans or Configurations that were stopped, so that the ConfigurationManagerImpl could return a list of Configurations that were stopped, so that the JSR-88 impl could list them in the progress object.
