Freemarker bundle in repository

Hi,

Was wondering why the freemarker scripting bundle isn't in the
http://people.apache.org/repo/m2-incubating-repository/ repository, also
why the version in the
http://people.apache.org/repo/m2-snapshot-repository/ bundle is VERY out
of date.

Cheers
Bryce

Apart from setting up your maven's settings.xml file to register the
deployment system and enable maven to connect there, there is nothing
much to do as the parent project is configured to correctly deploy the
snapshots.

And settings.xml information is like this:

         <server>
             <id>apache.snapshots</id>
             <username>apache-user-id</username>
             <privateKey>path/to/private.key</privateKey>
             <directoryPermissions>775</directoryPermissions>
             <filePermissions>664</filePermissions>
         </server>

In addition, I think the umask should be set in the account's startup
script to 002.

This is not a FAQ information, though, but rather a Development
information, we might put under the Development tree on the site.

Regards
Felix

Do we have a description of how to do this somewhere? I assume that
the deployment repository must be configured somewhere, and that
authentication is involved.

If you can give me some basic info when you have time, I'll create a
Sling developers FAQ and add this info to it.

Thanks for putting the freemarker snapshot up.

Yes, we deploy there manually - we should follow the process we use in
the Apache Felix project: whenever a substantial change is made to a
module a new snapshot is deployed by this developer. This is very easy
as it's just doing a "mvn deploy".

Trying to publish snapshots automatically opens a can of worms - we once
started this discussing but where turned down - from a technially
perspective there is the problem that our continuum instance is not able
to deploy directly into the snapshot repo as this would require a valid
ssh connection.

I'll deploy latest snapshots in a minute.

That bundle wasn't included in the list of bundles to release when we
discussed it a while ago, probably because none of the committers used
it actively at the time. Now that it has automated tests, I think it
would be safe to release it.

What do committers think, are we planning to release some more stuff
soon? I think it'd be good to put our single-bundle (or
group-of-bundles) release process to the test.

I don't know how bundles get there, is that a manual process, or did
Carsten or Felix deploy stuff manually there? It might be good to
publish snapshots automatically.

For now, your best option might be to publish this artifact to a
private Maven repository of yours - it's always a good idea to have
such a repository when working with Maven.
