(bug?) SA version/revision reporting inconsistency

my SA on an OSX 10.3.9 box is *working* as expected ...
however, inbound mail headers are marked with:
X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.1.0-r179985 (2005-06-04)
my problem is:

The main issue is that there's no way to do that automatically. ;)

iiuc, you mean the last revision?
does it not make sense to have the reported version represent the _actual_
'overall' code revision? or is there a reason for "limiting" it to the "last
version where SpamAssassin.pm was changed".
also, is it then correct/safe to assume that the "old version" of OpenSSL
referenced in spamc's 'readable bits' has _nothing_ to do with my build/env?
thx,
richard

I'm assuming this is what you're complaining about?
If so, yes, that's expected. The svn version isn't the version of the WC,
it's the last version where SpamAssassin.pm was changed.
