[website] maven artefacts webpages
Hi,
I'm currently rebranding the maven utilities maven artefacts. It is common
to have webpages for maven artefacts.
I would like to know if it is possible to have a place and process to put
somewhere at netbeans.apache.org the related artefacts webpages. It will be
around 10 mini website of this kind (on for each artefacts).
An example from the previous site (not apache branded).
Maven generate all the html to have pages like that
http://www.mojohaus.org/nbm-maven-plugin/ and associated static pages are
here https://github.com/mojohaus/nbm-maven-plugin/tree/gh-pages
Best Regards
Eric

This sounds like an idea. I think you are suggesting a job or something
that deploys the changes to a sub-folder on the site from a separate git
repo. Would need to ask infra (Daniel) if possible; seems it would be. Then
would need a request to set that up I think.

Let say I prepare the maven utils pom to refere to this url https://bits.netbeans.ord/mavenutilities
Can be changed later
Publication of the future artefact outside of maven central is another story.
Not sure we have the acces to nexus at bit.netbeans.org.
Being at central will simplify users pom by remonving all netbeans repository specific settings

Yes, absolutely. But we're about to have Apache Javadocs at that subdomain, so seems like this might be good there too?
And we already have a repo specifically for this - incubator-netbeans-docs

Surely better on a separate repo rather than adding the overhead?

Not sure to understand everything
You means the following url ?
https://bits.netbeans.org/maven2
http://bits.netbeans.org/dev/new-maven-snapshot/
http://bits.netbeans.org/dev/ maven-snapshot/
This contains artefacts libraries, we will, I hope release the artefacts to central maven, and snapshots too.
I try to get a place to have the documentation of the utilities that previously were at mojohaus.
The repository of utilities is here:
https://github.com/apache/incubator-netbeans-mavenutils/ maybe it can be configured to build site on the asf-site branch and later be published in the world at the place we want.

Eric

We already have a separate repo set up for JavaDocs which is just about to go live at bits.netbeans.org and proxy back to Oracle for old releases.
Given Maven things seem to already be on that subdomain, it might make sense to keep these there too in the short term?
Or we should be able to easily proxy a subfolder or subdomain to a new gitpubsub repo for these.
Given conversations / issues around JavaDoc I'm personally in favour of keeping these disconnected from the main site pipeline too.

Or we may want to use git submodules.
We may want to set up a "bits.netbeans.org" main git repository that has
two git submodules, one pointing to a javadoc git repository and another
submodule pointing to a maven git repository. These will look like a
"subfolder".

Hi
Not taking any option, just questions :D
Is it possible to keep radical netbeans.apache.org and have something like
maven.netbeans.apache.org ? to keep feeling at same place.
Maybe it is possible to have a new "site git repo" for the maven tooling
site that we can put on a subfolder of netbeans.apache.org so it make at the
end a big site.
Regards
Eric

Hi Eric,
Definitely doable.
We may want to decide if this belongs in netbeans.apache.org/maven or in its
own subdomain: maven.netbeans.org
Having a separate subdomain, supported by a specfic git repository, is
probably the way to go. Otherwise the netbeans.apache.org repository is
going to become huge quickly.
Thoughts on this?
Cheers,
Antonio
