Hi Simon, thanks for that.
Take a look at http://ci.apache.org/projects/xmlgraphics/fop/snapshots/ and let me know what you think, it's based on your Forrest build site but is not built by Forrest. A script generates it daily after the daily snapshots have been produced.
JAI support has also been added so that should be fine, see http://ci.apache.org/builders/fop-trunk/builds/6/steps/compile/logs/stdio for results of the build.
Let me know if you want any changes.
Let me know also what you want doing about building your documentation - you mention this is the environment section in this issue.

I've made an initial start at this.
Basically so far just run 'ant' -- the results are in the link below:
http://ci.apache.org/builders/fop-trunk/builds/0/steps/compile/logs/stdio
Let me know please what I need to be doing to get it to pass - or indeed if a more targetted test is required.
Let me know also please what content you want in a build package and if zip/tar.gz/bz2 etc and what format required for naming (date etc)

Your permanant download location will be under the url http://ci.apache.org/projects/fop or http://ci.apache.org/projects/xmlgraphics/fop ?

The run is done headless and does not include hyphenation patterns. I will sort out how to work around this, by creating a target that avoids the junit tests.
The resulting files are fop-svn-trunk-bin.tar.gz, to be renamed to fop-svn-trunk-yyyy-mm-dd-vrrr.zip, where rrr is the revision number (just as in ofbiz), and build/fop.jar, to be renamed to fop-svn-trunk-yyyy-mm-dd-vrrr.jar. These two should be made available for download.
The download location URL should preferably be http://ci.apache.org/projects/xmlgraphics/fop.
Due to other commitments it may be more than a week before I can work on the build target.

I added an ant target 'nightly-build'. It removes the build directory and the directory nightly in the top-level directory (which would be left-overs from earlier builds), and then creates fop-${DSTAMP}-bin.tar.gz and fop-${DSTAMP}-bin.zip. These two files should end up in the download area for users. If possible, the file build/fop.jar should also be copied to the download area.
Ideally the builds should be done with JAI support present in the JVM, but that is not necessary. This build avoids any junit tests which require an X display, and therefore can be done in a headless setup.
