[users@httpd] Upgrading 2.0.40 to 2.0.48 on RedHat 9

Hello,

I installed RH with the webserver packages on a server we are going to use.

Apache 2.0.40 is the webserver included.

I need to install ColdFusion MX on this box, and it is compatible with
2.0.43 and up.

Or, I could downgrade to 1.3.2x.

I uninstalled the packages, and installed the 2.0.48 version from a tarball,
but it didn't work..
So I'm wondering if anyone may have some experience that they could spare...

TIA,

Yves Arsenault

Hey,

It does work!

What I was doing was actually going to the /usr/local/apache2/bin folder and
typing
apachectl start

That wasn't working.
(Like I said, I'm not a very experienced user.)

If you did the default install, it installed apachectl to
/usr/local/apache2/bin. Try running:

/usr/local/apache2/bin/apachectl start

and see if it works.

Well, when I try to start it, I get command not found error...

I'm not a very experienced Linux user.

I'm trying to start it using apachectl start

Did you do anything special to run it?

I followed the install file..

?

I hope to get it working.
