AFAIK There is no standard way to represent tags in the MetaWeblog API, so I wonder how Ecto is encoding them.

Per the ecto tags settings under Settings->Templates:

In my version, it says:

Put tags in  Body (this is a dropdown, but can't change it)

Tags are wrapped in a DIV with CSS class 'posttagsblock'
