getting started with Axis / SOAP

Hi. I don't know much about web services. My task is to code a web 
services client that can access some of Google's API's.  I'm not trying to 

build a web services provider.  I'm going to do a java implementation. 
Can I install Axis on my desktop PC which is running MS?
Then what?

You can run Axis or Axis2 in Windows.
You can follow this guide to learn how to create Web services clients in
different ways if you are using Axis2.

Sure you can do that and generate stubs from axis and then create a
client.
