[users@httpd] reliable piped logging bug of 2.0.44??

Hi,
Apache docs say that piped log processes are spawned by the parent
Apache httpd process, and inherit the userid of that process. This
means that piped log programs usually run as root. 

V 2.0.44. deos it properly, but at the first server request the piped
log proces is killed

Is out there anyone with the same experience?
