[jira] [Commented] (INFRA-11537) Account velorina is posting spam
comments to the Solr Confluence space
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-11537?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15211007#comment-15211007 ]
Steve Rowe commented on INFRA-11537:
------------------------------------
The Solr project intentionally allows open commenting (see INFRA-7058); we recognized then that this opens us up to the possibility of spamming. As Chris Hostetter wrote on the solr-user list ( http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/lucene-solr-user/201311.mbox/%3calpine.DEB.2.02.1311271653180.9548@frisbee%3e ):
> If Comment spam becomes a problem too unweildy to manage by deleting after
> the fact, we'll have to consider going the same route as we do with an
> explicit white list of users like we have with moin moin.
IMHO, we are not yet at the point of unweildiness. I looked at incidences of spam deletion (i.e. detected spam) since the current setup was put in place: 10 total comments, including the 6 in the last 3 weeks.
Would it be possible for community members to do account banning ourselves for the Solr space, in the form of a blacklist?
