I have a hive table that contains chinese/japanese characters for a varchar column. From hive, the following query run successfully:
select * from voter_hive2 where name='老百姓';
However from sqlline, it fails:
0: jdbc:drill:schema=hive> select * from voter_hive2 where name=_UTF16'老百姓';
Error: PARSE ERROR: From line 1, column 33 to line 1, column 48: Cannot apply = to the two different charsets ISO-8859-1 and UTF-16LE
