[users@httpd] VirtualHost configuration
Hi... I know this might have been asked a zillion times already... anyway
below is my basic virtual host definition.
...
NameVirtualHost *
#
# VirtualHost example:
# Almost any Apache directive may go into a VirtualHost container.
# The first VirtualHost section is used for requests without a known
# server name.
#
#<VirtualHost *>
# ServerAdmin webmaster@dummy-host.example.com
# DocumentRoot /www/docs/dummy-host.example.com
# ServerName dummy-host.example.com
# ErrorLog logs/dummy-host.example.com-error_log
# CustomLog logs/dummy-host.example.com-access_log common
#</VirtualHost>
<VirtualHost *>
DocumentRoot /var/www/html
ServerName www.psinergybbs.com
ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /var/www/cgi-bin
</VirtualHost>
<VirtualHost *>
DocumentRoot /home/users/francis.balagtas/public_html/html
ServerName bbs.psinergybbs.com
ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /home/users/francis.balagtas/public_html/cgi-bin
</VirtualHost>
www and bbs dot psinergybbs.com are both cnames in my DNS records...
pointing to psinergybbs.com A record.
I am not sure what I'm doing wrong here... I just followed the most basic
virtual host configuration, theoretically they should have worked, failed
though.... really puzzled here... TIA
Peter

On the server, the client's authentication
is asking with SSLVerify Client, in a <Location> directive.
I must use the Location directive, because the SSL authentication
must continued with Tomcat 4.05, for java application.

[users@httpd] Client certificate
Posted by Antoine de Lobel-Mahy <ad...@meeschaert.com>.
Hello,
I use client and server certificate for authentication on my intranet web server.
Sometimes, (and I cannot precise th case with precision),
my browser (IE 6) ask for me which certificate I want to use. I have only
one client certificate on my computer, and sometimes, it ask me for the same server :
for example :
portail.dom.com : it ask me (it is the servername)
portail : it don't ask me (it is the serveralias)
another case :
intranet.dom.com : it don't ask me (it is the servername)
intranet : it ask me (it is the serveralias)
Can you help me for this comportment?
thanks, and sorry for my english)

I'm lost if that doesn't work. You should be able to say:
DirectoryIndex admin
...and that would take care of it.
You said that you had "access" when you removed SetHandler, but what do you
mean by "access"? That the cgi was executed, or that you were offered to
download it?
Does the error log have anything to say about ít?
I have no clue why it says forbidden, unless it is that it fails to find an
"index file" and Options Indexes is turned off.

Robert Andersson

This is not possible for this script, its a bin and always searches for
admin and not admin.cgi so it starts, but writes an error because it
can't find "admin".

Yes I mean that...

Try DirectoryIndex with the name of the script, or rename the script to
"index.cgi" or similar.
You say that your DNS points a domain to a directory?!?! Do you mean that
there is an A-record that points to the Apache machine, which has a virtual
host with that ServerName, which has the directory as DocumentRoot?
If so, and you want your admin-script to execute when you enter
admin.example.com, you simply rename the script "index.cgi", put it in the
document root (enable cgi etc. there) and have this directive in the vhost:
DirectoryIndex index.cgi

If I have correctly understood what you want ...
First, you need to "SetHandler cgi-script" for the main directory of your
site, and then you need to "DirectoryIndex admin" in order to get that
file to run when the site is requested.

[users@httpd] CGI-Problems
Posted by Paul Tritscher <pa...@style-web.at>.
Hi all!
I have a big problem with the configuration of CGI on my System!
I know the basics about how to configure CGI but this is a bit special!
My DNS-Server tells: admin.example.com should point to a
Virualhost-Directory /home/www/example.com/cgi-bin! In did a
directory-index on cgi-bin to open lets say the script "admin"! All of
this would be no problem if the "admin"-script would have an extension:
admin.cgi - then is works fine but unfortunately it doesn't have any
.cgi or the like. Now i did a <Location /cgi-bin> SetHandler cgi-script
</Location> which also works fine but only if i configure my Vhost that
I have to put in "admin.example.com/cgi-bin" but I want my
"admin"-script to run without giving a directory (admin.exmaple.com
should run the script)! Hope you know what I mean!
Thx for your help

Robert,
Thanks for your reply... I'm not sure what's going on with my server. But
it's working fine right now.... Must be some gremlins roaming around....
