   hadoop_version = 2.8.4
   zookeeper_version = 3.4.14
   accumulo_version = 1.9.3

   I did a sanity check on the instructions you pointed out on a fresh cluster

   History:
   PKG=org.apache.accumulo.examples.simple.mapreduce.bulk
   ARGS="-i muchos -z <> -u <> -p <>"
   cd install/accumulo-1.9.3/
   ./bin/accumulo $PKG.SetupTable $ARGS -t test_bulk row_00000333 row_00000666
   ./bin/accumulo $PKG.GenerateTestData --start-row 0 --count 1000 --output bulk/test_1.txt
   ./bin/tool.sh lib/accumulo-examples-simple.jar $PKG.BulkIngestExample $ARGS -t test_bulk --inputDir bulk --workDir tmp/bulkWork
   SUCCESS

   History:
   accumulo org.apache.accumulo.examples.simple.mapreduce.bulk.GenerateTestData --start-row 0 --count 1000 --output gen/test.txt
   accumulo org.apache.accumulo.examples.simple.mapreduce.bulk.BulkIngestExample -i muchos -u root -p <> -t test_bulk --inputDir gen --workDir tmp/bulk
   FAILURE

   The latter was the one failing. So using the proper JAR results in success.

   Closing the issue, user error
