He's baaaaaack....

Hi gang,
I know it's been a while, but I wanted to let you know that I've sent
my Apache 2.0 agreement to the magic fax, and assuming it's possible to
return from emeritus status, I'd like to come back to the fold.

The last year or so, I had to concentrate on feeding the family in a
down econonmy, but now I've landed in a stable job (a couple of them,
actually), and I'll have some time to put into the greater Struts
collective again.

So, if you'll have me, I'm back.
James

Sorry, I forgot to add one piece of important information. A signed
CLA on file is required before an account can be enabled. Your account
is enabled, ergo you have a signed CLA on file. (I checked the
record.) This is something that changed while you and James were on
hiatus. The ASF got strict about this and disabled any account for
which a signed CLA wasn't on file. That's why James' account became
disabled, while yours did not.

I'm still waiting to hear back about James' account.

Yes, I've logged in my account from time to time. I think mine got disabled
at some point but I went through some process to get it reactivated. That's
been a while though.

How does one know if they do(n't) have a current CLA?

I just checked, and Eddie's account looks ready to go. James Turner's
account is currently disabled, but it does show that the CLA he faxed
in has now been recorded, so a message to infra@ or (root@?)should be
all that's needed. I'll ping them right now...

Aw, shucks, we're touched. ;-) Thanks for coming back!

BTW, I did notice that you brought back iBATIS into the fold with you.
Interesting. The incubator is a busy place these days, and presumably
db.a.o too, shortly, with all the recent DB-related arrivals.

Yes, it's true, merit never expires!

We've never "voted" anyone emeritus, and so I wouldn't think we'd have to vote anyone back :)

I'd say that when you guys are ready to commit something, just move your name from one section to the other on the volunteers.xml page. That's all we (meaning I) ever did. We just like to keep track of who's been committing lately.

The one issue might be whether your Apache account is active at the infrastructure level. They closed some in the spring for lack of a CLA. But, once the CLA is filed, we could just ask that the account be restored.

Re: He's baaaaaack....

Yes, it's me. Thank you, sir! :-)

I wasn't as thoughtful as James. I guess I figured the only thing one
needed to do to "return from emeritus status" was to become active again. I
too would appreciate the opportunity though.

Many of you are aware I left after having some personal issues pop up. I
had to go off and "find myself" again. I beleive I've done that - and it
feels good! :-)

Anyhoo .. yeah, I've been sinking my teeth in and looking for things to do.
My time is a lot more limited than it used to be, but I'm anxious to become
re-involved if you all would be so gracious as to allow it :-)

I've been working on getting my environment setup for proper development
here at the house. I had to bury my Linux box (which is where i used to do
all my java development) and am still muddling through getting my XP box
setup to my liking. That, reviewing the (many!) changes that have
transpired in my absence, and trying to figure out what I can do to
contribute are keeping me busy in my "down time". I look forward to
replacing my Linux box in the future, but, for now, it's simply not
feasible.

Yep ... that be me, James :-) Nice to be welcomed and good to be around.
