[jira] Created: (WINK-159) Use clean Apache licensed version of
json.org classes
Use clean Apache licensed version of json.org classes
-----------------------------------------------------
Key: WINK-159
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WINK-159
Project: Wink
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: Common
Affects Versions: 0.2
Reporter: Nick Gallardo
There is an issue that has come up with the json.org classes in a few other runtimes. Specifically, the classes as we get them today contain a line in the license that says:
"The Software shall be used for Good, not Evil."
This issue has come up with both Abdera and Jettison before, and they are both using a new version of the classes with a clean license, provided by the json.org team. See http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/JETTISON-66 for more info.
We need a clean copy of these classes for Wink as well. It may be that we ultimately get them from one of the dependencies with a clean copy, but we can figure that out.

hq. Abdera is still at the incubating repository
Ah, now I see.
Thanks, Bryant.
So it seems that Abdera checked in json to their source control and distribute it under abdera groupId:
{code}
<groupId>org.apache.abdera</groupId>
<artifactId>json</artifactId>
{code}
I have a feeling of deja-vu.

http://json.org/java/apache.zip returns 404...
And I didn't find it on apache central maven repository (btw, I was wandering how Abdera handles it, and was surprised not to find Abdera on Maven repository)

I think this issue should be fixed before 1.0 goes out whenever that is.

Abdera is still at the incubating repository ( http://people.apache.org/repo/m2-incubating-repository/org/apache/abdera/ ) since they haven't done any releases since then (April 2008) according to their page http://abdera.apache.org/ .
