[jira] [Created] (ZEPPELIN-200) Make Interpreters dynamically
loadable
Raj Bains created ZEPPELIN-200:
----------------------------------
Summary: Make Interpreters dynamically loadable
Key: ZEPPELIN-200
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ZEPPELIN-200
Project: Zeppelin
Issue Type: New Feature
Components: Core
Affects Versions: 0.5.0
Reporter: Raj Bains
Priority: Critical
The Interpreters currently have to be registered as static. However, as per our discussions, we'd like Zeppelin to be a platform and this is very limiting. Other frameworks such as Ambari Views provide dynamic loading of Views, where one can drop in a JAR and load the view. We'd like to have the same functionality in Zeppelin.
With production deployments, customers do not always want to get a new version of the whole project. Sometimes, if there is a minor bug in one particular interpreter, the customers prefer that they can drop in a new jar till the next release. Practically, this feature is very important to supportability in production deployments.
Later this allows for an app store like functionality to be built around Zeppelin.
