How to retrieve saved Preview Picture from an Excel workbook?

I would like to display the saved Preview Picture from an Excel file  
(both Excel formats).

Is the picture accessible via POI 3.5-FINAL?
If so, how?

I am going to guess that is one of the Worksheets properties that you are
referring to. I do not know that this is the answer - do not know whether
the API exposes that feature - but I would say look at the HPSF module;
