[jira] [Created] (ZEPPELIN-2107) matplotlib broken under zeppelin 0.7.0, matplotlib 2.0.0, python3

David Webber created ZEPPELIN-2107:
--------------------------------------

             Summary: matplotlib broken under zeppelin 0.7.0, matplotlib 2.0.0, python3
                 Key: ZEPPELIN-2107
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ZEPPELIN-2107
             Project: Zeppelin
          Issue Type: Bug
            Reporter: David Webber

Long time lurker first time poster. Sorry if this is the wrong place or if this bug is due to user error.

I installed zeppelin 0.7.0 from binaries and attempted to use a python3-based venv, but I find that matplotlib appears to be broken.

input cell:
%python
import matplotlib
import sys
print(sys.version)
print(sys.executable)
print(matplotlib.__version__)
import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
plt.plot([1,2,3])
