Here here! Good work, Geoff!
You make tapestry development possible, as far as I'm concerned.

Hi Geoff

Did anyone lately thank you for your great work? I think Spindle is the
biggest plus for Tapestry, besides Tapestry itself.

So here it goes:

 thanks so much!

Client side validation doesn't work for radio buttons

Posted by Oscar Picasso <os...@yahoo.com>.
Hi,

I have trouble to make a client side required validation for a radio group.

<form jwcid="@Form" class="register" listener="listener:register"
        delegate="bean:validationDelegate" clientValidationEnabled="true">
    <label jwcid="@FieldLabel" field="component:gender"/>
    <span jwcid="gender@RadioGroup" selected="ognl:user.gender" displayName="genre"
                 validators="validators:required['Le genre est obligatoire.']">
      <input type="radio" jwcid="@Radio" value="femme"/> femme
      <input type="radio" jwcid="@Radio" value="homme"/> homme
    </span>
    <input type="submit"/>
</form>

On submission server side submission is properly handled but I have no client side validation. If I add a TextField with a required constraint on the same form, the required textfield validation is performed so javascript works fine.

I have noticed the javascript code produced:

Tapestry.register_form('Form');
Tapestry.onsubmit('Form', function(event) { Tapestry.require_field(event, 'null', 'Le genre est obligatoire.'); });

I found strange the 'null' in the script.

Same problem with select elements.

Any idea?

Oscar

Spindle is an amazing job... I'm still amazed at all the work on the xml side.
I'm looking forward for an integration with MyEclipseIde!

Btw, why call it "unstable" ? I have not run into any (serious) issues
with the 3.1 spindle series... Not even sure I had a single bug.

Not an easy task!

thanks for the thanks!

This version is a "first cut". I did the min required to build it on
both versions of Eclipse. My (albeit lacking) testing showed that the
issues people identified first are working.

pls log bugs if you find any problems!

Thanks for the hard work Geoff. Sorry I wasn't able deliver on getting it
to work with 3.1. I look forward to trying this out on 3.1.18. Maybe I can
use Java5 with my Tapestry stuff now :-)
