Re: Migration with Openwire over HTTP

Hello Justin,

Thank you for your response.

To answer your first question, yes, it needs to be gradual. We have thousands of ActiveMQ clients deployed on customer side. To change the client protocol, we would need release a new version of our on-premises product and customers need install it. At the same time, we would need to guarantee the continuity of service for old versions for a couple of years.

Regarding your second question, it’s essentially because of ease of use and because no other port needed to be opened on firewalls.

Are you looking for a way to gradually move all the clients over from
ActiveMQ to Artemis instead of having to switch the broker and the
clients all at once? If so, bridging seems like a reasonable solution.
Take a look at the AMQP bridge [1].

Without more details about your specific use-case it's hard to say if
there would be "any other option."

Out of curiosity, why were you using OpenWire over HTTPS originally?

Justin

As OpenWire over HTTPS is not supported in Artemis, would there be any other option than bridging messages between ActiveMQ Classic <-> Artemis the time all clients are rolled out with a new supported protocol?
