- [ ] Create a signed git tag (and push it)
- [ ] Merge 1.10.0-rc2-next into 1.10 maintenance branch and then merge 1.10 into main branch (and push these)
- [ ] Remove rc1 and rc2 branches from git
- [ ] Release the staging repository corresponding to rc2 and drop any other staging repositories from repository.apache.org
- [ ] Add the release information to reporter.apache.org for the next quarterly board report
- [ ] Upload the release artifacts to dist-release SVN for the mirrors
- [ ] Stage the release notes
- [ ] Stage the updated website navigation, downloads page, DOAP file, manual, jekyll configuration, and any other area of the website to link to the 1.10/1.10.0 release instead of the 1.9/1.9.3 release
- [ ] Publish the staged website
- [ ] Archive the old 1.9.3 artifacts in the dist-release SVN
- [ ] Prepare an announcement email
- [ ] Send announcement email to announce.a.o mailing list and user.accumulo.a.o mailing list.
- [ ] Close this issue
- [ ] Create a 1.10.1 project on GitHub (if necessary) and move any open 1.10.0 issues to that project
- [ ] Close the 1.10.0 project on GitHub

I was actually thinking about making an issue template in the repo, so that we can easily create this type of issue again in future, to create a better workflow to obviate the need for too many detailed instructions.
