You forgot to underline that Apache alone, even without derivatives,
has crossed the 50% edge. The german computer magazine iX
published a notice in its newsticker (-german only- at
<URL:http://www.heise.de/newsticker/>):
On the page <URL:http://www.heise.de/newsticker/data/hb-10.08.98-000/>
it says (translated freely; I will spare you the babelfish translation):
Web Servers: Apache continues on its way to success
According to the english Netcraft survey, at the beginning of august
the Apache HTTPD daemon took the 50% border -without counting
derivative products-. With 50.35% total Apache leaves both MicroSoft's
(22.69%) as well as Netcape's (8.22%) Web Servers far behind.
