[jira] [Created] (HBASE-10238) TestAccessController#verifyDenied
can fail even if ADE is thrown
Andrew Purtell created HBASE-10238:
--------------------------------------
Summary: TestAccessController#verifyDenied can fail even if ADE is thrown
Key: HBASE-10238
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-10238
Project: HBase
Issue Type: Bug
Affects Versions: 0.98.0, 0.99.0
Reporter: Andrew Purtell
Assignee: Andrew Purtell
Fix For: 0.98.0, 0.99.0
In TestAccessController#verifyDenied there is code attempting to deal with UTEs with AccessDeniedException as a nested cause. Although it would seem the code intends to handle the exception reported by a recently failed test on the 0.98 Hadoop 1.1 Jenkins build here:
{noformat}
java.lang.reflect.UndeclaredThrowableException: Unknown exception in doAs
Caused by: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: com.google.protobuf.ServiceException: Error calling method PingService.noop

Caused by: org.apache.hadoop.hbase.security.AccessDeniedExceptionorg.apache.hadoop.hbase.security.AccessDeniedException: Insufficient permissions (user=UserB, scope=testCoprocessorExec, family=, action=EXEC)
Caused by: org.apache.hadoop.hbase.ipc.RemoteWithExtrasException: org.apache.hadoop.hbase.security.AccessDeniedException: Insufficient permissions (user=UserB, scope=testCoprocessorExec, family=, action=EXEC)

it didn't work properly.
