Setting AXIS encoding to toher than UTF-8?

I have some client classes generated by AXIS, but the server Im talking to wont handle my request unless its encoded as ISO-8859-1. Is there a way I can tell the AXIS client classes to send its SOAP request encoded as ISO-8859-1 instead of UTF-8?
