[jira] [Commented] (SLIDER-713) Implement the cluster flex operation via REST

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SLIDER-713?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14324177#comment-14324177 ]

Steve Loughran commented on SLIDER-713:
---------------------------------------

With SLIDER-782, work on this can start before the YARN proxy support is implemented (or deployed). The client simply has to switch to the new APIs and rely on factory code to create the (secure) bindings over whichever transport is selected.

Different startup latencies (REST API comes up slightly later), security binding and exceptions may be troublespots

> Implement the cluster flex operation via REST.
> This is identical to the existing IPC flex: push up a new resources.json to AM; the main engineering is tests/migrating existing code.
> its not clear how much funtest tests for for flexing; this will add some
