Do you still have this problem? I had a similar one this morning,
caused by a stale "sling" working folder being used for testing.

Unfortunately, "mvn clean" does not delete those work folders - if you
want to kill them manually they are:

./launchpad/app/sling
./launchpad/webapp/sling .
/sling

relative to the top of the source code tree.

Created a JIRA to attach the files to.

https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SLING-900

I looked at the exception and it's missing method, so there is someting
gone wrong with the classpath - or perhaps a repository problem.

I just tried starting with an empty Maven repo cache and get the same
errors.

Interesting. I think that JDK 1.5 is fine, that is what I have been using.

Maybe it isn't related to the memory settings in your case. I'm curious
about the details of the test failures.

Could you send me the reports for the unit tests that are failing?

Specifically these files:
sling\launchpad\testing\target\surefire-reports\org.apache.sling.launchpad.webapp.integrationtest.accessManager.ModifyAceTest.txt
sling\launchpad\testing\target\surefire-reports\org.apache.sling.launchpad.webapp.integrationtest.accessManager.RemoveAcesTest.txt

And also the server logs for the launchpad test app at:
sling\sling\_org.apache.sling.launchpad.testing-4-incubator-SNAPSHOT\logs\error.log

Thanks.

Re: test failures

Howdy Michael.

Yes, I use "export" for MAVEN_OPTS.

The noticeable difference is that I'm using JDK 1.5.

Is that no longer supported? I don't argue (any longer) that projects
should keep JDK 1.4 compatibility, but I do think it is far too early to
drop 1.5. In the case of Mac, those of us without Core 2 Duo can't get
JDK 1.6 (from Apple anyhow).

Hi,
I'm having some troubles as well compiling Sling, probably I'm
missing something.. same r758703,
Maven 2.0.9, java version "1.6.0_07", Mac os x 10.5.6
I have all integration tests failing because some bundles shows an
unsatisfied dependency

2009-03-28 11:10:01.531:/org.apache.sling.launchpad.testing-4-incubator-SNAPSHOT:WARN:
 ERROR: Error starting

What am I missing? Where shoudl I find the portlet bundle?

Re: test failures

Posted by Michael Groh <mi...@googlemail.com>.
Hi,

I just built the trunk on a mac with no test failures, with the
following settings:

$mvn -version
Maven version: 2.0.9
Java version: 1.6.0_07
OS name: "mac os x" version: "10.5.6" arch: "x86_64" Family: "mac"

$export MAVEN_OPTS="-Xmx512M"
$mvn clean install
[...]
[INFO] BUILD SUCCESSFUL
[INFO]
------------------------------------------------------------------------
[INFO] Total time: 3 minutes 38 seconds
[INFO] Finished at: Fri Mar 27 22:03:28 CET 2009
[INFO] Final Memory: 106M/294M

How did you pass the HeapMemory settings? With maven 2.0.9 you have to
pass the opts like above, passing them directly does not work any more
AFAIK. (I had a similar problem with another project recently)

cheers,
Michael

Yeah, forgot to say the platform - it's Mac.

Just tried with mx512M, same results.

Maven version: 2.0.9
Java version: 1.5.0_16
OS name: "mac os x" version: "10.5.6" arch: "i386" Family: "unix"

I'm also getting a failure with the /sling-test/sling/sling-test.html
page. The testRemoveContent assertion fails ("data should be gone...")

...

Results :

Failed tests:

testRemoveAce(org.apache.sling.launchpad.webapp.integrationtest.accessManager.RemoveAcesTest)

Re: test failures

Hi Jim,

I ran a clean sync and build on two different machines (one winxp, one
linux) and I was not able to reproduce this issue on either machine. All
the tests were passing for me. Can anyone else reproduce this in their
enviroments?

Maybe you are seeing the same thing that was reported here:
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SLING-891

I was not able to reproduce the error reported in SLING-891 either, so maybe
there is something different about our build environments?

This is the linux environment that I just tested the build on:

> mvn --version
Maven version: 2.0.9
Java version: 1.5.0_17
OS name: "linux" version: "2.6.27-11-generic" arch: "i386" Family: "unix"
