The method HttpServlet.getLastModified() can't be overrided in the JSP

Summary: The method HttpServlet.getLastModified() can't be
                    overrided in the JSP
           Product: Tomcat 4
           Version: 4.1.12
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Major
          Priority: Other
         Component: Jasper
        AssignedTo: tomcat-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: Maxim.Karavaev@arete.de
                CC: Maxim.Karavaev@arete.de

The problem is that a JSP can't be cached on the client side, because the
method:
protected long getLastModified(HttpServletRequest request);
is invoked from the HttpServlet.service(HttpServletRequest req,
HttpServletResponse res) method, but org.apache.jasper.runtime.HttpJspBase
override this method without any support for caching.
I think, that a good way is to call an abstract void _jspService method from
the general doGet and doPost methods in HttpJspBase.
