I agree, the only workaround other than patching is actually setting up à class inheriting InternalResourceResolver in package org.apache.fop.apps.io (as constructor has only package visibility) and overriding resolveFromBase method to call Ole Sandum code (Ex : new FopResourceResolver(this.getClass().getResource(fontPath).toURI(), ResourceResolverFactory.createDefaultResourceResolver()) )
