trouble with customize pane in latest CVS 1.3a3

When I run the latest jetspeed, unmodified, from the CVS, 1.3a3 dev, login
as "turbine", and click on the "pencil" on the way right of the screen along
the tab area to customize, then just press the "apply" button, a request is
sent off to the jetspeed server, but never returns.
 
Anybody know what's going on here?
