Pointer to generate Perl client for CXF JAX-WS services?

Hi,

I have converted a few AXIS1.4 Web Services to CXF JAX-WS. Original clients
were in Perl which is done by someone else, I don't know Perl at all. I
would like a simple way to generate Perl client code from the WSDL I have
now. Any pointer is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Emily

Thanks Benson for your reply and suggestion. It's very helpful.

Emily,

My vague recollection is that no one is maintaining a perl code
generator that is remotely up to date with current web service
practices. If you are in a hurry, you might want to talk to JAX-RS via
perl instead of full SOAP.

If you are in a position to call Java from Perl, go ahead. Spring is
optional, you can choose to use it or note.

Thanks for quick reply. It'll be nice to have wsdl2perl. But my production
is next week. Should I do this for now instead and make it better later?
Can I use Spring Java client and let Perl call Spring Java client? Since
other tools can only use Perl, we'll have to provide Perl API as the
adapter.

Thanks,
Emily

I'm unaware of a wsdl2perl. We do have a wsdl2js for Javascript. If
you have a couple of weeks, you could code the perl equivalent and
contribute it.

You can do this with the XML::Compile library from CPAN --
specifically the XML::Compile::WSDL11 module which can generate Perl
stubs from a WSDL.

http://perl.overmeer.net/xml-compile/

We have used this pretty effectively to consume document/literal
wrapped CXF services.

There's an example of using this module to send a request to one of
our services:

http://funcnet.eu/source-code/perl-examples/

Let me know if you have any questions, probably off-list I guess since
none of this is really CXF-specific.

Andrew.
