Content Type not being changed to UTF-8 when set in the JSP
Summary: Content Type not being changed to UTF-8 when set in the
JSP
Product: Tomcat 4
Version: 4.1.18
Platform: Sun
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Major
Priority: Other
Component: Jasper
AssignedTo: tomcat-dev@jakarta.apache.org
ReportedBy: joshua.kumar@wipro.com
I am using a JSP which has the following header
response.setHeader("Content-type","text/html; charset=utf-8")
response.setContentType("text/html; charset=utf-8")
Even the <@ page ContentType > directive does not work.
This is not setting the content type to UTF-8 . I have greek and Latin
characters which are to be displayed in Tomcat4.0.6 when I am using the
following html META tag.
<META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
But in Tomcat4.1.18 . It is not rendering the characters properly .
The above problem does not occur with Tomcat4.0.4 also.
Is there a fix for this in Tomcat4.1.18 or can we take it as bug till a
resolution is found.
