[jira] Commented: (IMAP-76) RFC2342 IMAP Namespace (Basic Support)

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IMAP-76?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12694056#action_12694056 ]

Robert Burrell Donkin commented on IMAP-76:
-------------------------------------------

James IMAP is expected to support the "Complete Heirarchy" paradigm, in which the default namespace presented includes the user's personal mailboxes together with any other mailboxes they have access to. This is implicitly suggested by the data store structure but has not yet been explictly decided.

> RFC2342 is used by some clients (notable Thunderbird) to obtain the hierarchy delimitator. Unless this IMAP Namespaces are available, these clients will not see subfolders.
> James IMAP does not currently support shared folders or access to other users folders. This would just be initial support for Personal Space allowing the heirarchy deliminator to be passed to the client.
