[jira] [Commented] (SOLR-13571) Make recent RefGuide rank well in Google

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-13571?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17289813#comment-17289813 ]

Jan Høydahl commented on SOLR-13571:
------------------------------------

Bumping this again. The 6.6 refguide still shows up on top for most searches.

Now that we move to solr.apache.org site, we have a new chance to do something with the Google rank. But is sitemap the solution?

Or are there still some .htaccess rules in Confluence / MoinWiki that has an explicit link to the 6.6 guides, which causes this?

> Spinoff from SOLR-13548
> The old Confluence ref-guide has a lot of pages pointing to it, and all of that link karma is delegated to the {{/solr/guide/6_6/}} html ref guide, making it often rank top. However we'd want newer content to rank high. See these comments for some first ideas.
