103kb should not present a problem. 

Suggest you try Xalan interpretive commandline to see 
if the xml and xsl work. Then if you want to use XSLTC, 
rather than using the native API, you should be using 
the TrAX api. With TrAX the compilation is done 
automatically. If you still have problems, please attache 
the xml and xsl so we can investigate.
