OPENNLP-6 Create a new OpenNLP project logo for the site
Hi all,
There is an open ticket, OPENLP-6, that is gathering proposals for a new logo for OpenNLP site.
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OPENNLP-6
In case anyone is interested, submit a logo, or maybe just submit some ideas, images, or other suggestions that may help others to get creative too :)
I already submitted two, and there is another one there, so three logos submitted so far.
There is a call for entries for a new logo for Apache Incubator announced here https://blogs.apache.org/incubator/entry/call-for-entries-apache-incubator. And there was another similar blog post for Log4J2 new logo (https://blogs.apache.org/logging/entry/apache_log4j_2_0_is).
I wonder if we could get a blog post like that for OpenNLP too? (BCC'ed Sally Khudairi to this e-mail :)
Cheers
Bruno

Too much text is not very good for a logo, I recommend the one just under it.
Or maybe the same design but with only "Apache" on top, because saying "OpenNLP" twice is redundant, also using a font that is closer to the larger colored one (something without serifs) will look better in my opinion.

Cryptomnesia occurs when a forgotten memory returns without it being recognized as such by the subject, who believes it is something new and original.

Sure thing. I had some time today, so uploaded a new logo proposal, followed by some variations with text/feather/other colours/etc. Let me know if any looks better. From a chosen logo, I can try to derive a few variations for things like favicon, twitter and github gravatar/icon, etc.
Going overseas tomorrow, so may be offline for a couple of days. Will update the ticket following feedback after that, and may also try experimenting with
Rafik Naccache's idea in OPENNLP-6.

Hi Bruno! It is great to hear from you.
I loved the logos. It would be fantastic to see the project with renewed
logo.
A few comments:
The one with the parsing trees is great, but it reminds me of the Stanford
NLP logo. We need to avoid that. The idea of a symbol is really nice, we
just need to find the right one.
I like the red and black one because of the color contrast and the modern
look.
Is it possible to create a version with Apache? Also, we need versions that
would work nice with Twitter, Github, Jira.
Any other thoughts?
