I saw this [1] posted on HN today and thought it was a useful blog
post for the Maven Users group -- perhaps something we should post a
link to it on the Maven site somewhere?

"The next time you adjust a setting, think twice. Sometimes it’s
better to change yourself to appreciate the defaults than to change
the defaults to suit you."
