[jira] Commented: (LEGAL-73) http://www.apache.org/licenses/ versus
the icla: icla text needs update

Henri Yandell commented on LEGAL-73:

+1
One question is whether we even need the following text in the ICLA:
"If you have not already done so, please complete and send an
original signed Agreement to The Apache Software Foundation, Dept. 9660,
Los Angeles, CA 90084-9660, U.S.A. If necessary, you may send it by
facsimile to the Foundation at +1-919-573-9199. Please read this
document carefully before signing and keep a copy for your records."
An option would be to just delete that and make the ICLA independent of transport protocol. The same would be done for the cla-corporate.txt.
The software-grant.txt and JCP NDA don't have similar text. The membership application however does have such text; it's been updated to handle email:
"a signed scanned in image by email to secretary@a...e.org,"

> This page goes to some trouble to discourage faxing, but the icla.txt
> itself only mentions snail-mail and fax. Perhaps the icla needs an
> update?
