Blueprint xml files in repository
Is it possible to have a blueprint xml file in a repository, and refer to it
from a feature description (feature xml file), or do blueprint files alway
have to be embedded in a bundle jar in order to install it from a
repository?

Hi,
I think you can expect next Karaf 2.2.x release in a couple of weeks, as Karaf team generally release it about every 2 months, and the last Karaf 2.2.8 get released on June 20.

Ok, thanks.
Is there some place where I can find some kind of estimated release dates
for different realeases?
Thanks

Hi,
Actually with the jira, there's a "Fix Version/s:" indicate which release version have this fix, it's "2.2.9, 2.3.0, 3.0.0"

Hi Freeman,
this was very good news. I will try out the "file://..." variant.
Is it at this point clear in what release the support for blueprints via mvn
urls will be included?
Thanks

Hi,
Currently you can put the blueprint file in your local machine and use file handler to refer it, something like
<bundle>blueprint:file:etc/activemq-broker.xml</bundle>
But when you use maven handler with blueprint file, there's a known issue[1] in blueprint deployer(I believe you run into same issue), this issue already get resolved, so next Karaf release would be able to pick up this fix.

Re: Blueprint xml files in repository

I got the mvn urls to work, but the <bundle> variant does not work (the
<configfile> variant works).
When testing the bundle variant, the system complains about not finding the
manifest in the zip file, so it assumes that it is a jar.
Would be nice to have support added for blueprint xml files too.
Thanks

Re: Blueprint xml files in repository

Hi JB,
I am struggling a bit with the mvn urls (they are pretty new to me) and I am
not sure my file names matches the mvn url:s. I know it's kind of basic, but
maybe you could clarify this for me?
Given the url "mvn:groupId/artifactId/version/blueprint", what would be the
name of the corresponding file in the repository:
.m2/repository/<groupId with
dots->slashes>/artifactId/version/artifactId-version-blueprint.xml
Do Maven know that blueprints are xml?
I agree that the <bundle> variant would be more elegant, since it does not
expose any dependencies on the consumer of the feature specification (the
deploy directory in this case).
Thanks

Hi Lars,
yes, something like:
<feature ...>
<configfile
finalname="/deploy/my-blueprint.xml">mvn:groupId/artifactId/version/blueprint</configfile>
</feature>
To be honest, if <bundle/> works, it's more elegant ;)

Hi JB,
that looks nice (the <bundle> ... /blueprint ... method). I will try that
and report back.
For the configfile case, I guess you mean to specify to have it located in
the deploy directory ?
Thanks

Hi Lars,
As a blueprint XML is considered as a bundle, in a feature, you can do
something like:
<bundle>mvn:groupId/artifactId/version/blueprint</bundle>
with blueprint as a classifier.
I never tried it but it should work.
Another workaround is to use <configfile/> (it should work as well).
