   I didn't look to see how this was implemented, but if you follow http://apache.org/events/README.txt the graphic should be updated automatically by community.apache.org to promote the next event.  That means you shouldn't have to remove the logo.  Here is quote from that doc
   
   > All PMCs are asked to help promote ApacheCon and other major Apache 
   sponsored events by adding some form of img link to their homepages, 
   in whatever place works best for your site navigation.  Once you add 
   the code, no further changes needed (will be auto-updated to be 
   the next upcoming event).
