JavaServer Faces

Anyone know something about the JavaServer Faces technology, mentioned 
at JavaOne? Is it in competition with MVC template tools like Velocity, 
or is it something else entirely? I am still looking for more 
information on Sun's website.

It is a specification to make a common set of tools for producing
UIs in Java server applications. It is primarily aimed at JSP, but
the end result would probably be a set of beans that could be
easily used in Velocity. I'm going to look into joining the
JSR and see if I can participate. Many of us want a common set
of utilities that can be used for webapps and it probably wouldn't
be that much work to make a set of tools that could easily be
used in JSP apps and Velocity apps.

I'll let you know what happens :-)
