Sure, the unquoted semicolon is a command separator in most UNIX/Linux shells, including bash and sh. Usually, the user is expected to know those things, but we should make sure our examples are correct. And it is, of course, appreciated by most users if we give them warnings about such pit-falls, although it's not strictly a Derby issue...
