internationalization, cyrillic

Trying to get cocoon to output cyrillic, iso-8859-5, or utf-8, utf-16 or 
maybe iso-10646.

Is there any documentation on these kind of things, if so, where...

edit cocoon.properties, play with formatter.[type].encoding. yeah, it's
kinda kludgy, but it apparantly works.
