Tests fail due to
"> DEBUG GenericScanController.closeForEndTransaction OUTPUT:....."
Hi,
When I run the Derby test suites I get errors like in this example from
the xa suite:
*** Start: xaSimplePositive jdk1.4.2_02 xa:xa 2005-04-20 10:56:13 ***
148a149
> DEBUG GenericScanController.closeForEndTransaction OUTPUT:
closeHeldScan = falseopen_conglom.getHold() = true
Test Failed.
*** End: xaSimplePositive jdk1.4.2_02 xa:xa 2005-04-20 10:56:16 ***
I am on Revision: 161882.
From inspecting the code, and commit requests on
<de...@db.apache.org> I think I have traced the problem to the
commit request of
04/08/2005 06:24 PM: "[PATCH] 1st phase submission to address DERBY-132
inline compress of tables" which adds
an unconditional call to SanityManager.DEBUG_PRINT() in

java/engine/org/apache/derby/impl/store/access/conglomerate/GenericScanController.java.
Just now I don't have access to the Derby repository so I can't tell
exactly in which commit this was done.
(I get "Could not create SSL connection through proxy server
(https://svn.apache.org)")

I submitted a fix for this yesterday, let me know if it still is an
issue after getting update.

It's OK after my update this evening.

You're probably right in that it's due to a problem with my environment...
In the sources I saw some references to derby.log vs standard output but
I didn't look into the details. I will investigate this. Do you have any
hints?

What kind of machine/OS are you running on. I ran all the tests and
they passed. And I have been checking results of a number of test runs
on different machines and OS's and never saw that error. I would have
expected the debug messages to only go into derby.log and not show up
in test output.
It seems somehow in your environment stuff meant to go into derby.log is
somehow going to standard output instead?
