taking a break

After more than 3 years working with and on cocoon, for various
reasons, I've decided to stop my active involvement with it, at least
for a while.

If you have any questions about the flow or whatever, please don't
hesitate to contact me.

Greetings,

For the first time in weeks, I had a few extra minutes to check up on
cocoon-dev, and I couldn't help but to feel a bit sad reading the above.
However, I think I understand how you feel. Most of us do this for fun,
and if, for any reason, it ceases to be such, there's little reason to
continue. Personally, I'd love to able to work on Cocoon, and many other
interesting open source projects, but I simply can't seem to find the
time to do so. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I, like
everybody else here, really appreciate all your hard work and the
tremendous contributions you've made to Cocoon.

Have fun, whatever you're doing (and don't be gone too long ;)

Kind regards,

(: A ;)

Ovidiu,

Just a quick note (I check the mails before going to bed) to tell you
I'm very sad about this. Stefano seems to have been furious of knowing
that people sometimes communicate off-list, and his words are IMO
stronger than what he really thinks. He can't have forgotten the endless
threads on cocoon-dev about the flow, his enthusiasm about it and all
the public discussions that occured during many months.

Anyway, I can easily understand that you took it bad, and that, using no
more Cocoon in you daily job, you want to put some distance.

Be assured that you keep your place in the Cocoon community, but also in
my heart. We only met during one day, but I really appreciated it and
hope to meet you again in the future.

Warm regards,
Sylvain

PS: BTW, how's it going at Google ?

Ovidiu, with your departure, Cocoon will certianly be losing one of its
greatest resources.

So lets hope you are back soon!

Regards,
Michael

I have a question: does this action has anything to do with the private
conversation about flow?

The reason for me asking this is that I feel there were issues still
unsolved in that email and you leaving right in the middle leaves us
with the impossibility of solving any potential problem.

It's always sad to see people going away, but it's natural and healthy
if they do so because their lifes are changing. It's the beauty of
volunteer efforts.

On the other hand, it's hurts me very badly if they do it because they
feel negativity in the air.

I just want to understand how you feel while leaving (not the reasons,
those are your own business) because this will impact not only you but
all of us.

Stefano.

Ovidiu,
You have been a great resource in this effort for years, and although I am
rather passive member of this community, I always appreciate, beyond what can
be expressed in an email, the tremendous effort most volunteers put into the
project, not the least you.
I hope the reason is not related to what Stefano is trying to find out, that
would be sad, but something more awarding, like going on trips, expanding
your horizons, spending more time with family...

On the other hand, we have seen "core" members go, and come back later, and my
gut feeling says we will see you sooner than later.

Cheers.
Niclas

Hi Ovidiu,

it seems that this day is going to become sader and sader...

As my english is not that good (as you all know), I can only totally
agree to Sylvain's statement:
>>>

my heart. We only met during one day, but I really appreciated it and
hope to meet you again in the future.
<<<

I can totally understand your action and wish you all the best in the
future.

Regards
Carsten

Thanks a lot, Bertrand! I really appreciate your thoughts! I'm sorry we
didn't talk more at the GetTogether; maybe next time ;)

Best regards,
Ovidiu

I'm sure we'd get a lot of -1 if we could vote on this one...

Many thanks for your great contributions during this time - among them,
your presentation of the flow subsystem at the Ghent GetTogether has
been a most important step for Cocoon IMHO.
