Thank you for looking into it. While working on this issue, I found few other cases in Facet Module which threw NPE. I found an issue SOLR-12330 which was already filed for the same. I have combined this issues fix with that the fix for SOLR-12330.
I think we can close this as duplicate of SOLR-12330
