[jira] [Created] (SINGA-76) Install OpenBLAS without gfortran
wangwei created SINGA-76:
----------------------------
Summary: Install OpenBLAS without gfortran
Key: SINGA-76
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SINGA-76
Project: Singa
Issue Type: Improvement
Reporter: wangwei
SINGA uses on OpenBLAS for BLAS operations.
The installation of OpenBLAS provided by the *thirdparty/install.sh* script required gfortan which would make some troubles for users.
Thanks to Alan Gate for reporting this issue.
The solutions include
* change install.sh to compile OpenBLAS with make ONLY_CBLAS=1. Thanks to ZhangHao for providing this solution.
* install OpenBLAS using apt-get install or yum install
* make OpenBLAS as an option dependent libraries. Since there are many BLAS implementation, we are developing a set of math interfaces such that users can choose the underlying implementation (e.g., OpenBLAS or MKL). This feature will be added in the next release.
The pull request is mixed with SINGA-70
