[I] "next" link incorrect when `app_root` is set [superset]
arashdalir opened a new issue, #39485:
URL: https://github.com/apache/superset/issues/39485
### Bug description
1. set `APPLICATION_ROOT` to `/mypath`
2. run superset.
3. login page pops up with the correct path, BUT the next value is incorrectly set: `/mypath/login/?next=%2Fsuperset%2Fwelcome%2F`. it should include `/mypath` inside it.
4. login and you land on nowhere.
### Screenshots/recordings
_No response_
### Superset version
6.0.0
### Python version
3.11
### Node version
I don't know
### Browser
Chrome
### Additional context
note:
because of our special/ specific needs, our main application looks like this.
```python
from superset.app import create_app
import sys
root_path = sys.argv[1] if len(sys.argv) > 1 else None
app = create_app(superset_app_root=root_path)
# our use-case-specific code
if __name__ == "__main__":
serve(app, host='0.0.0.0', port='8200', threads=16,)
```
and the script is executed in the `venv` using `python app.py /mypath`
### Checklist
- [x] I have searched Superset docs and Slack and didn't find a solution to my problem.
- [x] I have searched the GitHub issue tracker and didn't find a similar bug report.
- [x] I have checked Superset's logs for errors and if I found a relevant Python stacktrace, I included it here as text in the "additional context" section.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you can't check if this has already been fixed in the release candidate and don't have time to report more bugs separately. Is that the case? If so, I will leave this issue tagged as validation needed. And either someone else can check the behavior in the latest version, or we can eventually close it if it gets stale.

@arashdalir I'm looking at Dosu bot's feedback - can you try out Superset 6.1.0rc3, the latest release candidate for Superset's next version, and confirm whether this is fixed there?

unfortunately i don't have the capacity to report the bugs. i tried to check if this one has already been reported or not, but was unsuccessful as you can see :(

Closinc since it was already confirmed on 2026-05-29 that the next link problem (and most APPLICATION_ROOT issues) is resolved in 6.1 (fix landed in PR #37942). The newly mentioned double-prefixed logout link is a different bug that should be filed separately.

@rusackas fyi: we got to test the OAUTH connection yesterday. interestingly enough, that link still has some issues (#34552). we patched it for the moment so our system would work, but apparently the general work on link issues is far from over...

<!-- Greeting -->
Hi @arashdalir! I'm [Dosu](https://go.dosu.dev/dosubot) and Iām helping the superset team.
<!-- Answer -->
@arashdalir this is a known bug in the `redirect_to_login` function ā it uses `request.path` / `request.full_path` directly without prepending `request.script_root`, so the `next` parameter ends up missing the app root prefix [[1]](https://github.com/apache/superset/pull/37942).
This was fixed in [PR #37942](https://github.com/apache/superset/pull/37942) (merged February 18, 2026), which changes the redirect target construction to:
```python
target = request.script_root + request.full_path.rstrip("?")
# instead of just
target = request.full_path.rstrip("?")
```
This is one of several post-6.0.0 fixes for `SUPERSET_APP_ROOT` handling ā the same class of bug affected user info navigation, dashboard export URLs, and static assets [[2]](https://github.com/apache/superset/issues/37518). The feature is still marked as **BETA** with some remaining edge cases around OAuth/LDAP login and Swagger UI [[3]](https://github.com/apache/superset/issues/35027#issuecomment-3257438936).
**To resolve this**, you'll need to either:
1. Upgrade to a Superset version that includes PR #37942, or
2. Cherry-pick / backport the fix to `superset/views/utils.py` in your deployment
Also, make sure your configuration includes `STATIC_ASSETS_PREFIX` and proxy fix settings if you're behind a reverse proxy [[4]](https://github.com/apache/superset/discussions/37376):
```python
SUPERSET_APP_ROOT = "/mypath"
STATIC_ASSETS_PREFIX = "/mypath"
ENABLE_PROXY_FIX = True
```

Hi! Gladly :)
I have to say that we found a few other issues too and therefore stopped
integrating v6.0 in our product :(
If you want, i can let you know about the other issues too..
Thanks and Best regards,

Sure, if you have additional bugs to report, that would be useful. You can file them separately. Just be sure to please check first if they have already been reported as GitHub issues.

hi! a bit late, but still: most of the issues with the `APPLICATION_PATH` have been resolved; including the problem with `next` link.
BUT, now `logout` link doesn't work now! the link contains 2x `APPLCATION_PATH`. i know, it's not correct to mention it here -> needs a separate issue; but still, worth mentioning...
