[jira] [Resolved] (ARROW-913) [Python] Only link jemalloc to the
Cython extension where it's needed
Uwe L. Korn resolved ARROW-913.
-------------------------------
Resolution: Fixed
Fix Version/s: 0.4.0
We changed the build behaviour recently to statically link {{libjemalloc.so}} if it was build using the ExternalProject mechanism. This was the initial cause of the problem here. Otherwise {{--as-needed}} should take care of the linking where it's needed. If the problem resurfaces again, feel free to re-open this issue with additional information.

> If the user does not have jemalloc installed, it would be better to defer the library load failure until they try to use the jemalloc-based memory allocator. See e.g.
