Bringing in Sales History and Not affect Financials

In a normal install of a new Ofbiz instance when transferring from
another system typically you only bring over open documents like open
invoices, open sales orders, open purchase orders, etc.  However we
would like to bring 3 years of sales history (i.e sales orders).  Anyone
have any experience bringing over sales history and NOT affecting the
current financials?
